Friends List w/”Benefits” (trades, coin gifts, etc)

Have a “Friends List” – players added to Friends list can give/receive coins or discs, and maybe have a chat/scripted message system in play. Friends list could be limited to a set number of people or not. This could be expanded or merged with the user created tournament mode or clubs suggestions that can be found as separate idea in these boards.

  1. This is a bad idea. Here’s why: people will create tons of accounts and trade between their accounts, therefore leading to easy ways of getting stacked accounts instantly. This would be abused more than the airplane trick was. I’ve seen other games where they allowed “gifting” between accounts, and every time this system got abused hard to the point the games took it out.

  2. Don – While I get what you’re saying, I’m not sure this is a real threat. For starters, one of the suggestions here is to make it easier to switch accounts, which I don’t think Per is going to do (I get why people want it and I don’t really care if people have multiple accounts, but I think we can see how it’s problematic.) So it’s not that easy to have lots of accounts. But beyond that, they’d have to somehow use all those accounts to get lucky enough to get a really good disc. The only two ways I can see this getting gamed would be the daily Open and PT – so an extra 600 coin for each account per day and an extra 250XP and the coin and XP boost each week from PT – but that would still be a ton of work to abuse. Like it would take the same amount of time and energy to win an AI A-Tier and probably a lot easier. And even if someone was abusing the gifts, the coins they’d get wouldn’t change their odds of a good disc showing up in the shop or in rewards. I could be wrong, but I think, at least given the way the game is currently set up, it seems like loopholes for abuse could be closed. One easy way to limit the abuse would be to have a limited number of people that could be in your friend’s list – like only 5 and you can only change them once a month or discs can only be gifted once. Also, there are other ideas here like the Community Shop that have so much overlap with this I can’t see both getting implemented. They point to the same issue tho – people want a better system of getting/distributing discs – and while many of these are very specific ideas, Per will do as he sees fit. That is, he can look at an idea like this and decide to do it his way, which may be very different from what we write.
